More Than Conquerors
Romans 8:28-39 is a passage of Scripture that teaches us about the assurance that has been acquired for us through the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ. This assurance is like an insurance policy against fear in the present and also the future. The Policy is "in all things." The Protected are "those that love Him." The Premium is "who have been called." The Proposition put forth is that this assurance makes the believer more than a conqueror. The Settlement is that all the negations put forth are overcome by assurance and also makes the believer more than a conqueror.
There is No Hesitation for verses 8-30 tells us "We know:" About the integrity of God. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..."; About the generosity of God. "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."; About the intentions of God. "Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."(all of this is past tense, indicating they are as good as done; glorification is sanctification completed).
There is No Condemnation for verses 31-34 tells us that "It is God that justifieth."We are not condemn: Because of futile opposition. "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Because of God's provision. "How shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Because of frivolous accusations. "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?" Because we have full representation. "It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God who also maketh intercession for us."
And there is No Separation as verses 35-39 remind us. "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" Difficulties cannot separate us. "shall tribulation, or distress(troubles or hardships), or persecutions, or famines, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"Death cannot separate us. "..neither death, nor life." There is no separation due to demons. "nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers". Neither time nor dimensions. "not things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Every believer should and can become more than a conqueror through personal knowledge of the assurance given by God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
